First blog post

I started this blog to write about what its like for me ( & possibly many others) as we live and learn through our twenties. Everything I blog about will be strictly my opinion and my outlook. I truly hope that as I blog about certain subjects that it will reach out to someone and that won’t feel like they’re stumbling through their twenties trying to figure it all out, because trust me you aren’t alone!

I tried these Shea Moisture products… & This is what happened

Okay so we’ve all been in the situation where we have to switch hair products because what we were using before just isn’t cutting it anymore (my fellow naturals you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about). So I recently started using Shea Moisture’s new line for low porosity hair that I had seen youtubers do reviews for so I decided to try it out myself. I couldn’t find it at any of my local Wal-Mart or Targets so I ordered it off of Amazon. I ordered the conditioner, shampoo, & leave in detangler. When I tell y’all these products give me LIFE!! My hair loves it especially the leave in detangler! All three of the products have this minty smell and it just makes my hair feel clean and super soft and my curls are always POPPIN’ when I use the leave in for my twist-outs. This line is protein free which is perfect for us low porosity girls because too much protein can dry our hair out. I love these products so I will definitely be buying these products again when I start to run low.

Here is the link if y’all want to try these products out! https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_19?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=shea+moisture+low+porosity+hair+products&sprefix=shea+moisture+low+p%2Caps%2C185&crid=2Q30POAIWZFOD

WALMART HAIR MINI PRODUCT HAUL!!

So if you can’t tell from the title I am clearly super excited to share with you my walmart hair mini haul!

Lately I’ve been at a standstill with my hair after big chopping for the second time and then adding color to it, so I decided that its time for a change. The products as of recent I had for my hair when I started transitioning were wonderful up until I colored my hair. So I decided to hit up my friend (shoutout to Paige Hey girl!) who is a fellow natural herself, and she told me what she uses and what has helped her so I decided to give it a try.

Now it’s time for the haul!!!

So first thing Paige let me know about was the “Quenching + Coconut Curls frizz-defying Curl Styling Milk” by OGX it was around $5 at Walmart and its a 6 oz bottle and it smells fantastic!!

Second, I made sure I got the Jamaican Black Castor Oil I have ben dying to use this since seeing other naturalistas on Youtube rave about it so I am super super excited to try it out!

Now as I am writing this I want to let yall know that I have been a Shea Moisture girl since I first started transitioning December of last year, so today I bought a leave in conditioner by Cantu. Now I can’t lie it smells really good the consistency is not too heavy so I can’t wait to try it out.

Within the next week I will be trying out this products and creating a post about how i feel about them ! Once again thank y’all for reading and following along during my natural hair journey !

Xoxoxo ❤️

Finding your Prince Charming in a world full of frogs 🐸

Every girl has this fantasy growing up that she will find the perfect man ( AKA Prince Charming) but the time she's in high school or college and they'll get married and live happily ever after. Now that's the dream that Disney has sold us for the past 80 years but we all know that it isn't all fairy godmothers, singing animals, and spoonful of sugar (that's a Disney reference for all my Disney fanatics 😉) when you're trying to find your Prince Charming.

Personally I look at it as you have to go through some frogs to find your Prince Charming because no man is perfect. They all have flaws you just have to figure out what you're willing to deal with. Now I'm not saying to put up with just anything & everything because he should still value you because you're flawless, okay sis ? Make a man value you & not just just your body (because you're worth so much) but make him value your mind set and make him wait for you !

Story time: My very first college party

So me and Karly are dancing, laughing, & just having a good time in general…. and then it happened

So it all starts off with a Thursday night & a couple of friends.

It was my first semester at a university & my first real college party. Of course I was excited because my bestfriend & I had been talking about it all week (we'll call her Karly), so it's a Monday we found out about the party and we're talking about what we're gonna wear and how we'll do our makeup and who's going to drive. Typical way to get ready for a party right ? Okay well fast forward to Thursday. (This is the really good part trust me)

It's Thursday finally and I'm at Karly's house getting ready doing makeup trying to find the right outfits. Mind you it's January and we're in Texas so during the day it's pretty warm but at night it's FREEZING. Well we both decided to wear shorts ( bad idea, this should've been warning #1). We get to the party with two of our other friends (we'll call them drew & mike).

We get to the house and there's people outside, people inside, people in the street. Just people everywhere in general. So me and Karly are dancing, laughing and just having a good time in general… and then it happened. A fight breaks out inside and so everybody trying to get away goes outside well it decided to start pouring down. Like no joke it was like the sky just cracked open out of nowhere. Let me remind you we're in shorts and tennis shoes. No. Jacket.

That's not even the bad part. The worse part is our "dates" (using the term loosely) left us ! Yup they ran to their car forgot about us and left. So I'm trying not to freak out because I'm soak and wet and cold and at this point just want to get home.

Karly calls the boys and they apologize over and over and say they're turning around. We finally get in the car and our once voluptuous curls are no longer in existence & we look like a mime the way our makeup is running down our face.

So of course we stop at whataburger & of course it's PACKED I'm talking drive thru is packed & the inside is no better. We decide to just go inside and order. I order and pay and sit at one of the tables and wait. So apparently this other guy ordered the exact same thing as me but he had a shake with his, the girl hands it to me I grab my spicy ketchup and we head out. Now I'm thinking nothing of the fact that the meal came with a shake and I ordered a sprite I just chalked it up as maybe the girl didn't hear me correctly & I was too tired to tell her.

So the guy comes running out yelling "Hey that's mine !" So let me just say this wasn't my proudest moment but the shake was so good I ran to the car and told Drew to just take off. He did.

So in the end I was rained on, left behind, and technically stole someone's milkshake but I will always remember my first college party.

Baby girl respect is just the minimum…

Growing up I was raised to never let anyone let alone a man disrespect me.  Now as we get older we tend to stray from what we were taught and go our on path even if it’s a toxic one. Now don’t get me wrong I’ve had one or two toxic relationships, where I was told numerous times that it was toxic and to end it. See I was so caught up in the whirlwind of what  I thought was “love” (trust me it wasn’t) that I wasn’t listening to the people that actually cared about me.

It took MULTIPLE heartbreaks & MULTIPLE moments of embarrassment for me to realize that as my idol Lauryn Hill said “Babygirl respect is just the minimum “, if that man doesn’t respect you from the very beginning then that’s not a man you need to be dealing with. Respect comes in all shapes & form but if you’re not feeling the respect from the beginning then girl I suggest you RUN & QUICKLY.

Now that I’m older I look at things differently & I demand respect from the beginning. It’s so much better to learn from your past mistakes than repeat them. Once we realize that we are Queens & deserve to be treated as such then and only then will we stop dealing with jokers & starting dealing with Kings.
